Tax Exempt I-990N

It is that time of year again; time to file your I-990N. This is an IRS requirement for all local rose societies. Those who do not file by the deadline, May 16th 2011, will lose their tax-exempt status.

The form is filled out online, it only takes about 10 minutes, and you will receive an email confirmation when you submit it to the IRS.

You will need your society’s EIN. When you enter the EIN the American Rose Society is listed as the business you are filing for. This is correct. As you proceed through the form you will enter your society’s name as the Does Business As name.

Please note the following change for the 2010 year: “The IRS has announced that for tax years beginning on or after Jan. 1, 2010, most tax-exempt organizations whose gross annual receipts are normally $50,000 or less can file the e-Postcard. The threshold was previously set at $25,000 or less. For further information please visit:  http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=234377,00.html
