The Gardens of the American Rose Center will be closed for an undetermined length of time (opening Tuesday,May 21st,at the earliest) following severe storm damage May 16th.
The Gardens have many tress down on the grounds,along with downed power lines and water damage to the office buildings.

The Gardens of the American Rose Center will be closed weekends until March 1,  2013. The gardens are open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday,  except for federal holidays.

Effective March 1,  2013 through October 31,  2013,  the Gardens of the American Rose Center will be open 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday,  and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.

The spectacular Gardens of the American Rose Center are located on a 118-acre wooded tract near Shreveport,  Louisiana.  The gardens are home to the national headquarters of the American Rose Society.   We are the nation’s largest park dedicated to roses.The gardens were dedicated in 1974,when the American Rose Society headquarters moved to Shreveport,  Louisiana from Columbus,  Ohio.  Today,  the American Rose Center features more than 65 individual rose gardens and 20,000 rosebushes,  with a variety of companion plants,  sculptures and fountains,  including the beautiful new Dudley Watkins Reflection Pool.

Official Rose Bloom Season

The official rose bloom season is from April through the end of October. At the end of the year,  the gardens are magically transformed into a winter wonderland of twinkling lights for Christmas in Roseland. The Gardens will officially open on April 1,  2013. We will close October 31,  2013 for our winter season. For special events,  see the list below.

Hours Of Operation

Effective April 1,   2013 through October 31,  2013,  the Gardens of the American Rose Center will be open 9-5 Monday through Saturday,  and 1-5 on Sunday.

Admission

Admission to the Gardens of the American Rose Center is by donation,  except for special events.  A donation box may be located on the front porch of the Administration Building.  Please make a donation and take a complimentary garden map for a self-guided tour.  A free cell phone audio tour is also available to our guests.  Watch for the QR codes marking tour locations throughout the gardens

Guided Cart Tours

Reservations for cart tours,  when available,  should be made one-week in advance of the requested tour date.  Contact Carol Spiers at 318-938-5402,  ext. 223,  or carol@ars-hq.org to reserve cart tours.  Cart tours are available for groups of 5 or more only. The fee is $10 per person.  Our cart capacity is 7 people per tour.  Cart tours are not available on weekends or holidays.  [Please note that these tour limitations are due to reduced staffing for the 2013 season at the Gardens of the American Rose Center].

Use of BBQ Grills and Picnic Areas
Grills are available on a first come,  first served basis.  Grills may not be used during special events.  Guests using grills must observe all state and local regulations regarding open fires (if a burn ban is in place,  no fires will be allowed without exception).  Guests may not leave fires unattended. All fires must be out and completely extinguished before guests leave the area.

We are conveniently located just off of I-20,  Exit 5 near Greenwood,  Louisiana and follow the signs to Jefferson Paige Road.
